Spine very lightly sunned, with a small dark spot, minor wear at ends; light damp spot on front cover; small spots to front endpapers; light foxing to pages adjacent to the plates and to the tissue guard; small soil / foxing spots to a few margins earlier in the text; else a VG+ clean, tight & unworn copy, no owner names, hinges not cracked. Number 1 in the publisher' s Fireside Library series. A later printing. First was in 1856. Contains The Copper-Mine, The Snow King, The Iron King, The Fall of the Hats and Caps, Perserverance, The Three Pictures, Ragnar Lodbrok, Hakon the Good, The Story of Queen Astrid, King Olave, and Harald Hardrade. Folk tales and historical sketches for younger readers. "Perserverance" is about Carl Linnaeus. Translator not indicated in book nor in library records.

Sinding was an honorary member of the Quebec Historical Society. First published 1858 as A HISTORY OF SCANDINAVIA.
