He looks forward to receiving some of Oxley's own writing, discusses what he's been selling to magazines, and inquires after the names of Canadian periodicals to which he can send work. Oxley was a prolific Canadian author of boys' books. Letter is a single sheet folded horizontally twice, with both sides covered with his holograph. A collection of essays on birds.

With AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED pasted onto front pastedown. One sh eet folded to make 4 pages, then folded horizontally to fit in book. The holograph is on 3 of the 4 pages, and the letter is on the author's Brooklyn, NY, stationery, is dated Oct. 23, 1890, and signed in full. Addressee is J. Macdonald Oxley, prolific Canadian author of boys' books. Oxley has written his name, address (Ottawa) and date (December 1885) on front free endpaper. Miller thanks him for sending some of his own writing. 14 essays about birds.
